New Line is strongly considering releasing a third Texas Chainsaw Massacre film.  TCM: The Beginning did not do anywhere near as well at the box office as the TCM remake released back in 2003.

Ed Burns will star with Katherine Heigl and James Marsden in 27 Dresses.  Heigl stars as a woman who is always a bridesmaid and never a bride as she has planned countless weddings for friends.  Now she's planning one for her sister who is marrying the man Heigl is in love with.  Burns plays the object of Heigl's desire.

The latest Frank Miller film adaptation will be Ronin.  Based on an 80s comic series by Miller, Ronin is about a disgraced samurai who let his master be murdered by a shape shifting demon in the 13th century.  Now in modern day New York, the master's sword has been unearthed and the Ronin and the demon are brought to life and must fight each other and other beings for the sword.

Chuck Palahniuk's Choke is finally getting underway.  The new writer of the screenplay is Clark Gregg, who wrote the 2000 thriller What Lies Beneath but is more known for acting, and he has already finished the script according to Palahniuk's website.  Gregg will also make his directorial debut with Choke.  Sam Rockwell will star as Victor Mancini, a sex addicted con artist who pretends to choke in restaurants to receive sympathy checks from those who save him.  The role of his mother has not been cast yet but Glenn Close, Julianne Moore and Annette Benning are being sought for the role.

Emma Roberts(Nancy Drew, TV's Unfabulous) will star in Wild Child about a spoiled Malibu rich kid who is sent to an all Girls boarding school in England by her father after her latest escapade.  Roberts is the daughter of actor Eric Roberts and niece of Julia Roberts.

Zak Penn who wrote X2 and X3 says that he has talked to Fox about doing a film about the younger X-Men characters from the movies, like Pyro, Iceman, Rogue, Kitty Pryde.  Fox has told him that they would like to do it but it could be years away from actually happening.

Luke Ford, a young unknown Aussie actor, has joined the cast of The Mummy 3 with Brendan Fraser as the son of Fraser that will venture into the tombs in this new installment.  This film sees a new shape shifting mummy cursed by a Chinese wizard.  Jet Li plays the Mummy and Michele Yeouh is the wizard.  Screen tests are still being held to find a replacement for Rachel Weisz who declined the option to return for this movie.

Hugh Laurie(TV's House) has joined the cast of the crime drama Night Watch(aka The Night Watchman).  The film is being directed by David Ayer(Harsh Times, writer of Training Day) from a script by James Ellroy(LA Confidential).  The movie stars Keanu Reeves as an LAPD officer who becomes an alcoholic after his wife's death and is framed by his one time mentor(Forrest Whitaker) for the death of another officer.  Laurie and Chris Evans(Fantastic Four) will star as Internal Affairs agents investigating the case.  Shooting begins next month.

Russell Crowe will star as the Sheriff of Nottingham for director Ridley Scott's unique take on the Robin Hood story in the movie Nottingham.  Crowe as the sheriff is a more noble and brave lawman in this version and is the centerpiece as he works for a corrupt king and gets caught up in a love triangle with Maid Marion and Robin Hood.

Darren Aronofsky's(Pi, The Fountain, Requiem for a Dream) planned biblical tale movie has been announced by the filmmaker as a story of Noah and the Ark.  He talked about how in the Bible Noah is the first person to drink and get drunk which is what he does when they first make it to land.  He wants to explore the dark, complicated character of Noah.

The filmmaker's behind last year's Crank say a sequel is in the works that will pick up right where the last film left off.  Crank was a fun action flick that starred Jason Statham as a guy that needs to hunt down and kill the gangsters that poisoned him while keeping his heart rate up before his heart stopped and he died.  The film was not a huge success but it was very profitable earning 3 times the film's cost at the box office.

New Trailers:

FF: Rise of the Silver Surfer-A longer trailer than the teaser, gives more plot details.  Now established as heroes following the events of the first film, the Fantastic Four find that a visitor to Planet Earth is actually the Silver Surfer, a being that can disrupt the molecules that give them their power.  It's also learned that wherever the Surfer goes, 8 days later that Planet is destroyed.  They try to uncover the mysteries of the Surfer while saving Earth.  In theaters June 15.

Captivity- A horror/thriller starring the super sexy Elisha Cuthbert.  Cuthbert plays a woman who wakes up in a cellar with another stranger and the two endure mind games and scares while trying to figure out who abducted them.  Sounds a lot like Saw.  The trailer is kind of lame claiming "this is the movie they don't want you to see" and it's "so intense" blah blah blah line that we've heard a million times.  The film encountered a bit of controversy when ads were released depicting a step by step re-enactment of a torture and had to be removed by the film's producers around LA.  The trailer shows Cuthbert in a lot of situations where she will be showing her lovely cleavage so I'm in it for that.  In theaters June 22.
